Q. Why should I choose
Drum Beats?
A.
You are looking for an uplifting exhilarating
experience.
You want to increase the ability of your team
to retain information at your next conference.
You are looking for
something different, yet an activity that has
relevance to the development
of your team.
You are happy to offer your staff an activity
that benefits their immune system, self-confidence,
stress
levels and general well being.
back to top Q. What is Drum Beats staff like?
A.
Clients regularly comment upon the warmth
of the interaction created by the Drum Beats
staff,
that we are easy to work with and have great
facilitation skills.
back to top Q. How will this help my company?
A.
You will have a conference to remember and
your staff will be buzzing for weeks having
experienced success working to a common bea.t
Happy people = productive & smarter
people.
back to top Q. How can Drum Beats save us money?
A.
'Stress is likely to become the greatest emerging
risk to business in the 21st century' (Associated
Insurers Group).
Businesses can significantly reduce the risk
of stress through integrative participatory
activities which develop a sense of community
and well-being in their staff.
back to top Q. Will we really strengthen our immune systems?
A.
Yes. The release of stress created
by a Drum Beats event is not to be underestimated.
In a recent scientific study people in a long
term healthcare facility displayed 'significant
increase
in the cancer fighting cells in their bloodstream
from a single group drumming
session.'
The
same can be expected for your
staff after a Drum Beats Drum Circle!

back to top Q. Do you bring enough drums for everyone?
A.
Yes, everyone.
back to top Q. What type of drums will we play?
A.
Djembes, congas and darabukas.
The djembes come from Ghana, Ivory Coast &
Mali.
The congas are from Zimbabwe.
The tablas are from Egypt and the darabukas
are from the Middle East.
back to top Q. What if we have 200 people at the conference?
A.
Then we will bring 200 drums.
back to top Q. Do you think everyone will enjoy the drumming?
A.
Yes!
We have had so many experiences where people,
who were very reluctant at first, had such a
fantastic time we had trouble getting our drums
back!
(These are often people who appear to be serious
and conservative.)
Drum Beats events are
so inclusive and build confidence in such a fun
way that participants cannot
help but enjoy themselves.
back to top Q. How much space is needed?
A.
We can work with you and make almost any space
work.
Usually we use the space in the conference
room.
People will be seated at their chairs as for
usual presentations.
Basically, if there is room for the participants
to sit upon their chairs they can easily also
hold
a drum.
back to top Q. Indoors or outdoors?
A.
We prefer indoors because the acoustics are
usually better.
At retreats or informal
settings, outdoors works really well and is a
terrific way to clear
the mind
and recharge the batteries.

Q. How long will it last?
A.
This really depends upon your objectives:
To break the ice at
a conference - 15 to 40 minutes
As a team building
exercise-
30 minutes to an hour
COMBINATION PROGRAMS:
Myers-Briggs and Drumming - 1 to
3 day workshops
Meditation and Drumming- 1 to 3 day workshops

Q. We haven't played drums
before. is it for us?
A.
Yes! Experience and skill level are not important.
The programs have been
created to bring groups of people together.
It is a non-competitive atmosphere.

Q. Really? Even if I have
as much rhythm as a plank of wood?
A.
All living species have rhythm.
The chances are your heart
is still beating, so you must have rhythm!
OK. Seriously now, many of us through no fault
of our own have lost that connection with our
own rhythm.
Drum Beats programs are an excellent way to
ignite that connection with your own personal
rhythm. Making music as a group is also a powerful
teambuilding technique.
back to top Q. Why do you use drums?
A.
The drum is probably the easiest instrument
to use.
Hitting a drum is therapeutic. It allows people
to release energy in a way not usually possible.
During a Drum Beats team building exercise,
participants listen to each other and play to
a common beat. Participants see, hear and feel
the advantage of working together.
The group sounds terrific
and individuals gain from an exhilarating experience
of team
work.

Q. Will you show us how
to play the drums?
A.
Actual technique is secondary.
Our primary objective is to offer participants
an experience of the unity and community created
by interactive group dynamics.
(We do some very simple, easy to implement
techniques.)
